Beyond Basketball

A nationally bestselling collection of inspiring and motivating essays from Duke University’s Coach K about the game of life—on and off the court.

“In all forms of leadership, whether you are a coach, a CEO, or a parent, there are four words that, when said, can bring out the best in your team, your employees, and your family: I Believe in You. Those words can mean the difference between a fear of failure and the courage to try.” —Coach K

In his unparalleled basketball coaching career at Duke, Mike Krzyzewski has not only guided champion athletes to achieve victory through teamwork but has inspired his players to pursue their aspirations with a solid work ethic and determination. Grant Hill, Shane Battier, Elton Brand, and Bobby Hurley are just a few of the men who played for Coach K and became successful in their personal endeavors.

In Beyond Basketball, Coach K offers the advice and wisdom earned from a lifetime in education, where everyone has potential.

“On the court and off, Krzyzewski is a family man first, a teacher second, a basketball coach third, and a winner at all three. He is what is right about sports.” —The Sporting News
